Arequipa-Peru

We headed into Arequipa, known as the 'White City' with Mount Misti in the background. This beautiful city was founded in 1540 and is a real gem. Plenty of churches , monasteries and a fantastic square surrounded by excellent restaurants and five star hotels. The outer villages, lying deep in the valleys, only in the last few years being revealed to the outside world and still new to tourism, are a tempting excursion but time isn't on our side so a couple of days exploring and a meal out with Ken and Robin and the following night with Karen and Steve to celebrate Stevo's recent Birthday were a nice and welcome change.
A great couple of days gave way to a long truck day and my personal favourite a bushcamp this time in a stone quarry hidden from view at 4000 odd metres, fantastic. It was until we'd eaten dinner which contained some sort of hard bean. Very early morning, tents frosted over, saw a variety of overlanders , myself included, running for the toilet at speed. Combination of bean and altitude showed no mercy. Talk about blast from the past !!!
Enough..... onwards, adventures await.

Adios,
