Huacachina - Peru

We now continue to Huacachina, an oasis amid impressive sand dunes. Our purpose being, as we're all getting a little lethargic, to sand board some massive dunes and to take a white knuckle roller coaster ride in a dune buggy out into the desert to spend the night. After coffee and a little accident with the truck, nothing a couple hundred dollars couldn't sort we headed off strapped in to a V 8 contraption made from a Ford Bronco chassis and Chevrolet V 8 engine. Right from the off were tearing out of town at maximum speed straight up a dune. Hanging on for dear life, holding your breath and tensing your stomach we all begin to cheer and shout all sorts of expletives. The next hour and a half were breath holding, heart stopping, adrenaline fuelled high tension acrobatics in this steel cage, completing all manner of manoeuvres. If this wasn't enough we stopped for sand boarding. Picking the highest dunes with the steepest angles you lay on a snow board and launched yourself off the top. Unbelievable speeds reached whilst tearing down the dunes, talk about adrenaline rush. Topped off by sleeping out in the middle of the desert with just your sleeping bag under the stars was brilliant, I've never seen the Milky Way so clear and so many stars. Waking in the morning to a cool desert mist was refreshing until we tore off into the desert yet again and a final sand boarding down the mother of all dunes. Another totally brilliant experience.
All adrenalined out, adios.
