Los Glaciers National Park, Patagonia, El Chalten

Stage two of Los Glaciers National Park, a four hour drive around the park to El Chalten, a very small town which acts as base camp for many of the trails / treks in this region. In a valley surrounded by towering mountain peaks we stayed in a log cabin 10 x 8, 3 bunk beds and a load of small beasties. This was the last room available attached to the toilet block !!!! The toilet block, well there's a story. No u bends on the urinals, the waft of urine seeping back into the area mixed with the soiled paperwork which wasn't to go down the loo. On opening the door you gagged violently, trying not to laugh, however a few days here a you got used to it, a sweet pleasant aroma ha ha NOT !

Aside from that it is a magical place, the weather turning in a matter of seconds from blistering sun to rain laced with sleet hitting you at unbelievable speeds. The wind so fast with gusts within which knocked you off your feet. The air is so fresh and clean and you're able to drink the fresh glacial waters, you burn in minutes without protection it truly is amazing.

I've had one request from Butty for another penguin shot so here it is. There's a lot more Butty but you'll have to wait.

7th December, a good day, Happy Birthday to my sister Ali, thinking of you x

Back to work, nearly forgot outside our last hotel on arrival this old model Ford  T was outside, an Argentian owner who took great delight in showing me around.

More photos of the 25km trek I completed two days ago in preparation for the big "W" in Chile. Was absolutely knackered but what a trek, I slept well.

Yours truly in a fantastic place.
Adios mes amigos till the next addition, wifi dependant.......

  6. BLOG posted by JONNERS on Judith's log in (Teee He)

    Hollywood.
I am following your blog with a mixture of envy (just a bit) and just a slight scepticism. I recall the Apollo moon landing conspiracy theories. So, are you actually blogging from a railway arch in Peckham?
If that gets sorted then my next question relates to your graphic account of the 'lavvy' in El Chalten.
This very morning I was taken (as they say) a trifle short. I ended up in the fine facilities at Victoria Station.
It all sounded a bit similar to me.
I banged on a few doors hoping to hear the response " OK It's Tone here. The game's up".
No response though. Well, a few.
Had a great night out the other night with all your chums, including your "top chum". Luvly Lu.
    Keep safe.
