Iguazu Falls, Brasil

15.01.13
Leisurely breakfast and through the border into Brazil. Immediately you realise they have got things sorted, the work ethic is different, the campsite beautifully clean and the country appears a lot more affluent.

Right no more messing about time for an adrenaline boost. Lets see the Iguacu Falls from a different perspective ......helicopter ! and from a high speed rib ! I talked Geoff round and we turned up at the helipad, received instructions, and a smart looking six seater helicopter arrived. Once on board we gently lifted off and shot away at speed nose down for an adrenaline fuelled 15 minutes. Over the jungle and the canyon came into view heading straight for the Devils Throat second time round. Turning sharply, banking left and right, nosediving and pulling back we were treated to an amazing aerial view of these amazing falls. It was breathtaking and over all too quickly.

A couple of hours or so to calm down then a lovely drive through the jungle, a walk through the last section descending the boardwalks to the river. A snake was removed to allow us to pass. You're warned that you could get damp, so best to leave anything valuable, cameras etc. right strapped in we head off up river towards the falls at high speed crashing through the waves sending a light spray over us all. That's not too bad, this is going to be fine. At that point the two crew members don full water proof outfits and set off full steam ahead, this is fantastic but surely they'll pull up short in a minute, wrong, straight in under the torrent of water from above, drenched to the bone. Thankfully my Olympus Tough camera is fully waterproof, a great pressie Lu, your a star. In all a great day, seeing the falls from all angles and having a great laugh whilst doing it.
